Q & A
Why do I have to turn so many times to get product to come through the tip at first use?
- Although we fill our applicators completely, we have to allow a bit of space to top and seal the pen – otherwise the applicator would not lock into the pen and the solution would overflow from the sides during production. In addition, a bit of settling occurs during transport and shipping of our product. But be assured, the pen is filled to capacity and because of the small amounts used with each application, each applicator should should last individual clients a long time.
Why do I have to stick a pin in the tip after non-use over a period of time?
- The applicator solution is made to bind and solidify to lint or foreign fabrics without dripping onto clothing when used in appropriate quantities. In order to achieve this, we use a higher viscosity (or thickness) to ensure that the solution does not drip from the tip. Our formulation also ensures that the solution is fast drying for convenient on-the-go use – therefore over a short period of time the solution in the tip will become a gel-like seal. Once the seal is punctured or removed, the liquid product will continue to flow.
( We suggest after each use, allow a little drop of the solution to stay at the tip so that after a long period of nonuse you can just pull the little dot of product from the tip and the liquid product will continue to flow. *See example in photo gallery*)
The instructions say it lasts through multiple shampoos, but mine seems like it washes out sooner. Why?
- If this is the case for you or your client, the applicator solution is staining and trying to solidify to product buildup, not lint or fabric. It is recommended to thoroughly wash or detox your locks to remove product build up as our product only provides temporary coverage of products buildup and will wash out as the build up is washed away as well. If a client has not discontinued the behavior that caused the building up and/or lint, it’s also possible that they are getting new lint or build up, and may be mistaking this new accumulation of lint with the old lint that has in fact been covered. Our staff has tested the product to stain lint/cotton/other fabrics; our quality control tests reveal that Loc LintTint only starts to fade after around 10 shampoos.
Do I need to wash my hair before applying Loc LintTint?
- No, not necessarily, but like most products, the solution will usually have a more favorable result when applied to clean hair. The applicator solution would be applied directly onto the lint surface if hair is clean- which would result in a longer staying affect. Because the hair does not have to be clean – You can always take the applicator with you on-the-go and solve any lint issues while out and about.
* We do recommend if you have extensive build-up, or your locs are extremely dirty or have lint within an entire loc length that you try a deep cleansing procedure
to remove as much build up as possible. Loc Lint Tint is more of a spot treatment* please see instructions on back indicating the suggested amount to use.
Please think of our product in the same manner one would use a complexion concealer (on spots), not as you would use a foundation (all over).
Will Loc Lint Tint stain my clothes?
- Yes! It is made to bind to fabric stuck in locs, which means it sticks to, or stains any fabric. Please let Loc LintTint dry at least 1 minute before applying other products or letting hair touch clothing or any fabrics. Once it is completely dry it will not rub off on your clothes. It will not bleed or smudge when hair gets wet, so you are free to swim or wash hair directly after use. Loc LintTint washes off of hands with soap and water or sanitary wipes. If more product is used than recommended, it may take longer to dry.
Will Loc LintTint cover my grey hairs?
- Although we have received testimonials that clients have used our product to temporarily cover grays, we cannot confirm or advise this use as our product was not formulated as a hair treatment. For this reason, we discourage this use and also discourage applying our product directly to the scalp. Loc LintTint literally colors foreign debris that happens to be trapped in the hair of a locked individuals.
Does Loc LintTint build-up on the hair shaft?
- No it will not build upon itself if used as instructed. You do not want to overuse for better results. Once you apply the small amount needed, the lint will be covered. There will be no need to reapply. Again, follow the tips in the “Tips on Avoiding Lint” page of this site.
Is Loc LintTint toxic?
- It is non-toxic, but it is still suggested that it is kept out of reach of children because it will stain anything it comes in contact with, and is not for consumption.
